The Gonzales Area Foundation welcomes donations from all people. Donations to the fund are tax deductible and can be made anytime at this link. An advisory group of the Foundation gathers to recommend and issue grants from the contributions made to the fund.
The Foundation was focused at first on grants to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, with the money dedicated to serving people in Ascension Parish. With the Great Flood of 2016 – and its devastating effect on Ascension Parish – the Foundation expanded its granting to other areas, including education, mental health service and law enforcement.
The Gonzales Area Foundation is a special interest fund of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, one of the largest community foundations in the country. The Baton Rouge Area Foundation manages money in the fund and disburses it on behalf of the Gonzales Area Foundation.
