The Gonzales Area Foundation presents an annual gala at the elegant Houmas House Plantation. We've raised more than $1,000,000 in six galas over eight years and granted that money to improve the health and well-being of people in Ascension Parish. Our grants include:

  • $1,000,000 to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Gonzales.

  • Flood Assistance supplies to residents in our community who were affected by the Great Flood of 2016. Items donated included storage bins, cleaning supplies, baby items, personal hygiene items, and food.

  • $1000 each to 11 Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center patients who received treatment between August and December of 2016 and whose homes were flooded.

  • $1000 each June for five years to Charlie's Place Respite and Activity Center to care for our residents who are affected by Alzheimer's disease. Charlie’s Place II offers a person-centered care program that provides socialization as well as activities to stimulate cognition and physical health for mild to moderate Alzheimer-affected individuals.
