The advisory board is comprised of residents of Ascension Parish. They are responsible for leading the Foundation and making decisions about grants that are made from the fund.
Mayor Barney Arceneaux was elected mayor of Gonzales in 2009. Prior to 2009, Mayor Arceneaux was the Chief of Police for the City of Gonzales. His 40 years of public service include operations manager for the Southern Anti-terrorist Regional Training Academy and district director for former Congressman Charlie Melancon. He was director of Ascension Parish's Planning and Development Department.
Representative "Johnny" Berthelot is a Louisiana state representative serving Ascension Parish. He served eight years as Gonzales City Councilman and nearly 25 years as Mayor of Gonzales. He is a member of the Acadiana Delegation, the Capital Regional Legislative Delegation, the Louisiana Republican Legislative Delegation and the Louisiana Rural Caucus.
Melanie Espey Boudreaux is a lifelong resident of Ascension Parish. She has worked as office manager, paralegal and Notary Public at the law firm of Percy, Lanoux and Mumphrey for over 30 years. She has worked passionately to raise needed funds for East Ascension High School and the Spartan Booster Club through its annual Spartan Spectacular fundraiser while serving as an officer and board member. She assisted in raising funds for building construction and improvements for St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She is a graduate of Leadership Ascension.
Ronnie Daigle has lived in Ascension Parish for nearly two decades. He owns R.J. Daigle & Sons Contractors Inc., and Daigle Industries LLC. His public service includes vice chairman of the board of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, and board positions with Baton Rouge Area Chamber and Our Lady of the Lake Franciscan Ministry Fund.
Wendy Daigle has lived in Ascension Parish for more than 20 years. She has been office manager for R.J. Daigle & Sons Contractors, Inc. since 1989, and is co-owner of Daigle Industries, LLC. She mentors elementary school students in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. She also volunteers with Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center and St. Theresa School & Church, where she served as home and school president.
DeEtte Patterson DeArmond is a founding member of the newly formed 2016 Gonzales Area Foundation. She is a former educator and currently a real estate agent/investor with East Bank Realty in Gonzales.
She was a committee member of the original Cancer/Leukemia fundraiser, St. Theresa of Avila School Board president, founder of the St. Theresa School Alumni Association, City of Gonzales co-chairperson for Dixie Boys World Series tournament, East Ascension High School Booster Club vice president, East Ascension Hospital Board member, and 2015 chairperson for the first Gonzales Gala benefiting Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Gonzales.
She has held many other positions in her 20 years of community fundraising and service for both the private and public sector in Ascension Parish.
Robert Ryland Percy, III is senior managing partner in the law firm of Percy, Lanoux & Mumphrey. He retired as a rear admiral from the U.S. Navy after 36 years of active and reserve service.
He is a board member of River Parishes Community College Foundation, Baton Rouge Area Foundation, LSU Cadets of the Ole War Skule, and the Ascension Parish Library Board. Mr. Percy also serves as secretary and director of the Louisiana Super Region Rail Authority.
He formerly served as Gonzales city attorney, board chairman of St. Elizabeth's Hospital, and board member of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber.
Darla Rye is a lifelong resident of the Parish of Ascension and currently serves as a member of the Gonzales Area Foundation. She is also associated with the Gonzales Gala, which originated in 2016.
She is currently executive administrative assistant to Judge Katherine Tess Stromberg in the 23rd Judicial District Court, and has worked in the local legal community for over 25 years.
Darla is also an active member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, where she serves as a homebound Eucharistic Minister and as a member of Catholic Daughters. Her service to St. Theresa Avila Catholic School includes the Catholic School Committee, Development Committee, Fair Committee and Auction Committee.
